Halls Convenience Center
Knox County’s drop-off on Neal Drive in Halls, with an attended donation center and electronics recycling.
Halls Convenience Center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; it is closed Wednesday, Sunday and county holidays. The center is at 3608 Neal Drive in Halls, north Knox County. It is one of three county centers where attendants take clothing, reusable household goods and electronics.
Serves: Knoxville trash pickup and recycling rules.
What this center takes and what it does not
Beyond trash and recycling, Halls has three extras:
- An attended donation center for clothing and other durable goods in good condition, such as furniture, toys, kitchen appliances and tools.
- An America’s Thrift Store electronics drop-off, which the county lists only at Halls, Karns and John Sevier.
- A carpet recycling container, as at Karns, John Sevier, Powell and Tazewell Pike; Carter and Dutchtown take carpet only as bulky waste.
The center also takes bagged household trash, bulky items and do-it-yourself demolition materials, plastics 1 and 2, mixed paper, cardboard, cans, scrap metal, tires, car and motorcycle batteries, used oil and other auto fluids, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs and one propane tank a year.
It refuses glass bottles and jars, green waste, liquid paint, appliances containing refrigerant, shingles, brick, block, concrete and commercial waste.
About this site
The county’s annual progress report to the state lists Halls at ZIP code 37918 under state permit 47-0483. County pages spell the street three ways: Neal Drive on the centers page and in the state report, Neals Drive in the brochure and Neal Road on the electronics page. The brochure’s map of Halls marks the donation drop-off area.
Rules at every Knox County convenience center
Knox County residents, City of Knoxville residents included, may use any of the seven centers free with their own household waste. Business, rental-property and contractor waste is not accepted; the Knox County Solid Waste centers page carries the limits, holiday closures and full rules.
