John Sevier Convenience Center

Knox County’s drop-off in south Knox County, between Alcoa Highway and Chapman Highway near Twin Creek Road.

John Sevier Convenience Center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; it is closed Wednesday, Sunday and county holidays. It stands at 1950 W. Governor John Sevier Highway, in the Twin Creek Road area. With Halls and Karns, it has attended drop-offs for donations and electronics, and it recycles carpet.

Serves: Knoxville trash pickup and recycling rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

Two attended services set John Sevier apart from four of the seven county centers: an America’s Thrift Store electronics drop-off and a donation center for clothing and reusable goods such as furniture, toys, kitchen appliances and tools. Only Halls and Karns share them. Carpet goes into its own recycling container, which Carter and Dutchtown do not have.

The rest of the list: bagged household trash, bulky items and do-it-yourself demolition materials, plastics 1 and 2, mixed paper, cardboard, cans, scrap metal, tires, car and motorcycle batteries, used oil and other auto fluids, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs and one propane tank a year.

Not accepted: glass bottles and jars, green waste, liquid paint, appliances containing refrigerant, shingles, brick, block, concrete and commercial waste.
