What this center takes and what it does not

  • Carpet: a separate recycling container; Carter and Dutchtown take carpet only as bulky waste.
  • Trash and bulky waste: bagged household trash, bulky items and do-it-yourself demolition materials.
  • Recycling: plastics 1 and 2, mixed paper, cardboard, cans and scrap metal.
  • Car and household items: tires, car and motorcycle batteries, used oil and other auto fluids, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs and one propane tank a year.

Karns does not take glass bottles and jars, green waste, liquid paint, appliances containing refrigerant, shingles, brick, block, concrete or commercial waste.
