US trash pickup schedules and local waste rules

Moody Drive Trash and Recycling Center

One of seven Miami-Dade trash centers taking flattened cardboard, on county land off SW 268th Street.

Moody Drive Trash and Recycling Center, at 12970 SW 268th St, keeps hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. It is one of seven of the county’s 13 trash and recycling centers that take flattened cardboard for recycling year-round, in designated bins, and the county’s service page also lists it for used motor oil and used electronics. Its grounds are county-owned, and the county’s own map of solid waste sites places them outside any city.

Serves: Miami-Dade County trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

The center takes household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris a day and up to 3 cubic yards of fence. It also takes car tires, four at a time, appliances, mattresses, used motor oil, used electronics and cardboard; on the county’s service page it appears under all three of oil, electronics and cardboard. After Christmas 2025 the county named it one of 11 centers taking clean, decoration-free natural Christmas trees, which it chipped into mulch for service-area customers. Food and kitchen garbage are refused.

About this site

The mailing address is in Homestead, but the county’s GIS layer of solid waste sites and its adopted budget both place the center in unincorporated Miami-Dade, on county-owned land; the budget lists it in Commission District 9. The FY 2025-26 adopted budget and multi-year capital plan carries a $1.804 million program for the site, number 2000001369: an entrance sign, a perimeter fence, paving, impact-resistant windows, a used oil collection station, stormwater improvements, expanded unloading bays, attendant’s house improvements and electric vehicle charging stations. Those are budgeted plans, not finished work. DSWM’s FY 2025-26 business plan schedules five charging stations here, as it does at West Perrine and West Little River.

Rules at every county center

The centers are for DSWM waste fee customers, and the attendant scans a Florida driver’s license or ID against the address list. Customers may use any center in the network, not only the nearest one. The full rules are on Miami-Dade Solid Waste.
