US trash pickup schedules and local waste rules

North Dade Trash and Recycling Center

A Miami-Dade drop-off center on the grounds of the North Dade Landfill that takes used motor oil and electronics.

North Dade Trash and Recycling Center hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, at 21500 NW 47 Avenue on the grounds of the county’s North Dade Landfill. It is one of the Miami-Dade centers the county lists for used motor oil and used electronics; DSWM says it widened oil collection here over 2023 and 2024.

Serves: Miami-Dade County trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

It takes household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris a day and up to 3 cubic yards of fence, car tires (up to four), appliances, mattresses, used motor oil and electronics. Food and kitchen garbage are refused. The county’s center listing names it for used motor oil and for used electronics, and leaves it off the list for cardboard. For the 2025-26 holiday season DSWM named it one of 11 of the county’s 13 centers taking clean, decoration-free natural Christmas trees from December 26; the trees were chipped into mulch offered to service-area customers in the spring.

About this site

The center shares its grounds with the county’s North Dade Landfill, a Class III trash-only site just south of the Dade-Broward county line between NW 47th and NW 57th Avenues; that landfill opened in 1951 and was reclassified from Class I to Class III in 1983.

Which municipality it sits in is not settled. The county’s GIS layer of solid waste sites puts the address in unincorporated Miami-Dade, ZIP 33055, on county-owned land, while the City of Miami Gardens lists it as the “West” of three centers it describes as inside the city; the county service page and the street address use the mailing city Miami.

The adopted FY 2025-26 budget and multi-year capital plan carries a $1.103 million program for this center (program 2000001368), planned for entrance signs, paving and striping of the parking lot and impact-resistant windows. The budget places it at 21500 NW 47 Avenue in unincorporated Miami-Dade, in County Commission District 1, which the county’s GIS district layer matches.

Rules at every county center

The centers are for DSWM waste fee customers: the attendant scans a Florida driver’s license or ID against the address list, and a mismatch needs the TRC Access form. Customers are not tied to the nearest center and may use any one in the network. Miami-Dade Solid Waste carries the full rules.
