Palm Springs North Trash and Recycling Center

A Miami-Dade drop-off on NW 178th Street, one of three centers where the county expanded used oil collection.

Palm Springs North Trash and Recycling Center is at 7870 NW 178th St, and its hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The county lists it among the centers that take used motor oil and used electronics, and a November 2024 department release named it one of three centers where used oil collection had been expanded over the previous two years. County GIS records the site as county-owned and in unincorporated Miami-Dade, under a Hialeah mailing address.

Serves: Miami-Dade County trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

Household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris and 3 cubic yards of fence a day, up to four car tires, appliances, mattresses, used motor oil and electronics. It is one of the centers the county’s Trash and Recycling Centers page lists for used motor oil and used electronics; that page does not list it for cardboard. Food and kitchen garbage are refused, and gasoline in cans and used oil filters go to a Home Chemical Collection Center instead. For the season that opened December 26, 2025, the Department of Solid Waste Management named it one of 11 centers taking clean, decoration-free natural Christmas trees, chipped into mulch offered to service-area customers in spring 2026.

About this site

County GIS lists the site as “Palm Springs North” at 7870 NW 178th St, ZIP 33015, county-owned, and places it in unincorporated Miami-Dade, while the county’s service page gives a Hialeah mailing address. The FY 2025-26 adopted budget and multi-year capital plan carries a $978,000 program for the center (program 2000001361) at that address, in Commission District 13, which the county’s own district map agrees on. That work is budgeted, not finished: an entrance sign, a perimeter fence, paving, impact-resistant windows, a used oil collection station, stormwater improvements, larger unloading bays and improvements to the attendant’s house.

Rules at every county center

The centers are for DSWM waste fee customers, and the attendant scans a Florida driver’s license or ID against the address list. The eligibility, vehicle, fee and closure rules are published by the department itself: see Miami-Dade Solid Waste.
