Summit Hill Yard Waste Site

Free Ramsey County yard waste site on Pleasant Avenue: no wood waste, and road work limits access until late October.

Summit Hill Yard Waste Site, at 870 Pleasant Ave. in Saint Paul, takes leaves, grass, garden waste and food scraps, but no wood. Until late October, road construction closes access to Pleasant Avenue from Benhill Road and Victoria Street South; St. Clair Avenue access is not affected. Hours: April through November, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Serves: Saint Paul trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What Summit Hill takes and what it does not

Leaves, grass, pumpkins and garden waste, houseplant leaves and stems included, plus bagged food scraps. The county’s 2026 Recycling Guide marks Summit Hill “No wood waste,” so trees, branches and shrubs go to Frank and Sims or Midway. No mulch or compost is available.

About this site

The county’s yard waste page, updated in July 2026, says Benhill Road and Victoria Street South access is closed until late October and St. Clair Avenue access is open. The county’s food scraps page still carries an April 20, 2026 note that St. Clair Avenue is closed and drivers should follow detours. The two county pages disagree on St. Clair Avenue. In winter, from December through March, the site opens on weekends only. Summit Hill is not on the county’s list of sites open to Washington County residents.

Rules at every Ramsey County yard waste site

Ramsey County runs seven free yard waste sites for county residents, who should have a driver’s license ready as proof of residency. Businesses, dumping trailers, dump trucks and power equipment are turned away, bags of any kind stay with you, and brush has to be unloaded apart from soft yard waste. The full lists are on the county’s yard waste page ↗; that page names five holiday closures, while the county’s food scraps page also lists Thanksgiving Day for the yard waste sites.
