Sunset Kendall Trash and Recycling Center

A Miami-Dade drop-off next to Kendall Indian Hammocks Park, the county’s ninth center to take used motor oil.

Sunset Kendall Trash and Recycling Center sits at 8000 SW 107th Ave, next to Kendall Indian Hammocks Park, and its hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Used motor oil collection opened here in November 2024, the ninth county trash and recycling center to take oil, and it is one of seven that take flattened cardboard for recycling year-round.

Serves: Miami-Dade County trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

Household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris and 3 cubic yards of fence a day, up to four car tires, appliances, mattresses and electronics. It is one of the centers that take used motor oil, and one of seven that take flattened cardboard in designated bins. Food and kitchen garbage are refused. For the season that opened December 26, 2025, the county named it one of 11 centers taking clean, decoration-free natural Christmas trees, chipped into mulch for service-area customers.

About this site

The county owns the site, and its mapping lists it in unincorporated Miami-Dade, ZIP 33173, under a Miami mailing address; the adopted FY 2025-26 budget and the county’s district layer both place it in Commission District 10. The oil storage tanks put in during 2024 meet EPA, Florida DEP and county DERM requirements. The adopted FY 2025-26 capital plan budgets $1.425 million here (program 2000001364) for an entrance sign, perimeter fence, paving, impact-resistant windows, a used oil collection station, stormwater work, wider unloading bays and work on the attendant’s house; those are budgeted plans, not finished work. The same plan lists DSWM’s 3B Collection Facility at this address. A free Home Chemical Drop-off mobile event is scheduled here on Saturday, November 14, 2026, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., open to every Miami-Dade resident rather than waste fee customers alone, with free paper shredding added for 2026.

Rules at every county center

The centers are for DSWM waste fee customers, and the attendant scans a Florida driver’s license or ID against the address list before you unload. Customers may use any center in the network, not the one closest to home. The full rules are on Miami-Dade Solid Waste.
