US trash pickup schedules and local waste rules

East Convenience Center

The Metro drop-off on Doctor Richard G. Adams Drive that takes rigid foam and sells compost bins.

East Convenience Center hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is the only Nashville Department of Waste Services drop-off with a foam densifier, and the only one that sells backyard compost bins. With Ezell Pike, it is one of two centers that take household hazardous waste and tires. Its free foam drop-off opened on Earth Day, April 22, 2026.

Serves: Nashville trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

East takes bagged trash, recycling including glass sorted loose into the labeled bins, food scraps, soiled paper and BPI-certified compostables, bulk items, scrap metal, electronics including TVs up to 80 inches wide, and mattresses and box springs. Foam is what sets it apart: rigid foam that snaps when bent, such as coolers, packing blocks, meat trays, egg cartons, cups and takeout boxes, while packing peanuts, bubble wrap, soft foam, foam board insulation and pool noodles are turned away. With Ezell Pike it is one of two centers that take household hazardous waste, up to 15 gallons or 100 pounds a month, and one of two that take tires; the other two convenience centers are not listed for either. Latex paint, propane tanks, brush and leaves, asbestos, brick, concrete, dirt and rock, car parts other than tires, pallets, roofing shingles, ammunition, explosives, medical waste, medications and business waste are refused.

About this site

The center sits on Doctor Richard G. Adams Drive in Nashville. Metro’s own pages give it two ZIP codes: the hours, hazardous waste, foam and electronics pages use 943A Doctor Richard G. Adams Dr, 37207, while the November 2025 reopening release gives 943 Richard G. Adams Drive, 37206. It opened in 2001 and closed on September 8, 2025 for its first substantial overhaul, reopening November 18, 2025 after a 10-week project that added a main entrance building, safety railings around the drop-off points and new road striping. The foam system is a Foam Cycle densifier donated by the Polystyrene Recycling Alliance; the densified foam goes to Engineered Foam Packaging in La Vergne. Metro records 41,642 resident visits here in 2024 and state permit CCC190000167.

Rules at every Nashville convenience center

The centers are open to Davidson County residents who show a Tennessee driver’s license with a Davidson County address and unload their own loads; commercial vehicles are turned away. The fees, monthly limits and holiday closures are the same at all four and are listed with Nashville Department of Waste Services.
