Hillsboro High School Recycling Drop-off

Hillsboro High School Recycling Drop-off is the only Metro Nashville recycling drop-off with daytime-only hours.

The Hillsboro High School Recycling Drop-off stands at 3812 Hillsboro Pike, and its hours are daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing at 5 p.m. in winter. Five of Metro’s other six recycling drop-offs are open 24 hours, leaving this the one site a resident cannot reach late at night. Glass belongs here rather than in the curbside cart, and no attendant works the bins.

Serves: Nashville trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

It takes glass bottles and jars, which the curbside cart does not, along with the cart’s own materials: paper and mail, cartons, flattened cardboard, food and drink cans, and plastic bottles, jugs and jars. Everything must arrive clean and loose and go into the labeled bin for its category, so a full bag of mixed recycling cannot be left here. Plastic bags and wrap, foam and any plastic that is not a bottle, jar or jug are refused. Food scraps and BPI-certified compostables are taken at Metro’s four convenience centers, not at the recycling drop-offs.

About this site

The site is on Hillsboro Pike in Nashville, in the 37215 ZIP code, inside Davidson County. Metro’s Waste Services lists it among seven recycling drop-off sites, kept separate from the four staffed convenience centers; the drop-offs are unstaffed. The Davidson County Solid Waste Region Board’s annual progress report for CY2024 records the same daily 8-to-6 schedule and the same earlier winter closing.

Rules at every Metro Nashville drop-off

The seven recycling drop-offs are for Nashville households bringing their own sorted recycling. The residency and identification requirement, the per-visit limits, the card fee and the holiday closures that apply at the staffed convenience centers are set out by Nashville Department of Waste Services.
