What this center takes and what it does not

It takes household hazardous waste and electronics from residents: paint and solvents, motor oil, filters and other car fluids, cleaners, pesticides and pool chemicals, aerosol cans, propane and other gas cylinders up to 5 gallons, fluorescent and LED bulbs, household, car and lithium-ion batteries including e-bike and e-scooter packs, TVs, computers, phones and cables, and home sharps in a lidded puncture-proof container. It does not take ammunition or explosives, radioactive or medical waste, smoke detectors, electric vehicle batteries, fans, heaters, air conditioners or vacuums. Business waste it does not take either, though LASAN’s page says other S.A.F.E. Centers do.

About this site

The center stands at a Northridge address inside the City of Los Angeles, with an ARCO gas station beside it, and LASAN asks drivers not to block the station’s entrance and exit driveways. LASAN’s own facility records list the site as Nicole Bernson (Balboa) and give it the North Valley as its area.

Rules at every S.A.F.E. Center

The S.A.F.E. Centers are open to City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County residents, who are asked at drop-off for the address the waste came from. Fees, per-visit limits and closure dates run the same across the centers and are set out at LA Sanitation.
