The Southeast Residential Drop-Off Center, at 2240 Central St., keeps hours of Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closes Sunday, Monday and city holidays. The city dedicated it in February 2008 to replace the old depository at 9200 Lawndale, which could take one or two vehicles at a time; Central Street was built for 10.

What this center takes and what it does not
At Central Street you can unload mattresses, furniture (two large items), appliances, refrigerators with a tag showing the refrigerant was removed, tree waste, junk and recyclables. Up to 5 quarts of motor oil are taken, and passenger tires up to five a visit and 10 a month. Garbage, TVs, paint, chemicals, dirt and concrete stay out.
