Wahiawā Convenience Center
The one city convenience center on Oʻahu that takes no green waste, on Wilikina Drive in Wahiawā.
The Wahiawā Convenience Center, at 71-129 Wilikina Drive, keeps hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Christmas and New Year’s Day. It is the only one of the seven city centers that turns away green waste, and with it Christmas trees. The city’s contracted composting site, Hawaiian Earth Recycling, is on the same road. The Wahiawā center dates from 1992.
Serves: Honolulu trash pickup and drop-off rules.
What this center takes and what it does not
Bring household rubbish, bulky items such as furniture, mattresses and carpet, large appliances, passenger and light-truck tires, household gas cylinders, home fire extinguishers, car batteries, taped rechargeable batteries and e-waste. Unlike the Kapolei, Lāʻie, Waimānalo, Waipahu, Waiʻanae and ʻEwa Beach centers, Wahiawā has no green waste bin, so yard trimmings and Christmas trees go elsewhere. Food scraps are not accepted, and phones and GPS units do not belong in its e-waste bin.
About this site
Wahiawā’s center opened in 1992. For more than three decades it was the newest city convenience center, until the Kapolei center opened in 2023.
For green waste, the city’s drop-off list points to Hawaiian Earth Recycling, its contracted composting site at 65-1101 Wilikina Drive, phone (808) 682-5895. It is open Monday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to noon. A trip there counts toward the same two-loads-a-day limit as the city’s own sites.
