West Valley District Yard

A LASAN district yard in Northridge: four free tires a year, Extra Capacity Tags, monthly bulky item days.

The West Valley District Yard sits at 8840 Vanalden Avenue in Northridge. Its hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., except City holidays, and it is one of five LASAN sites that also open one Saturday a month for free bulky item drop-off. The yard has general and disabled parking and no public restrooms.

Serves: Los Angeles trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

City of Los Angeles residents may leave up to four tires a calendar year here at no charge, rims removed; tires still on rims are not taken. On the monthly Saturday drop-off days the yard takes furniture, carpet, yard trimmings, shelving and wood. Extra Capacity Tags for overflow trash are sold at the district office. Household hazardous waste is not on the yard’s list; LASAN takes that at its S.A.F.E. Centers.

About this site

LASAN’s tire and Extra Capacity Tag pages give the address as 8840 Vanalden Avenue, Northridge, CA 91324; its bulky item page prints 91234, a ZIP that does not belong to Northridge. The bulky item drop-off days still ahead in 2026 are Saturday October 10, Saturday November 21 and Saturday December 12. The two LASAN pages differ on when those days end: the bulky item page gives 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the event calendar 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Rules at every LASAN district yard

The yards are for City of Los Angeles residents, and tire drop-off requires a state-issued photo ID and a current utility bill. Tires brought in by tire shops or auto mechanics are not accepted at the residential yards. The operator’s full rules, fees and closures are on its page: LA Sanitation.
