Omohundro Convenience Center
The only Metro Nashville convenience center that takes small construction loads, and the only one that takes no cash.
Omohundro Convenience Center hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Sunday, Monday and Metro holidays. It is the one Nashville center that takes small do-it-yourself construction and demolition loads, for $20, and the one center where cash is not accepted: bring a check or a card. Cooking grease is the one household hazardous item it takes.
Serves: Nashville trash pickup and drop-off rules.
What this center takes and what it does not
The staffed yard takes bagged trash; recycling, loose and sorted into the labeled bins, including glass, which curbside collection does not take; food scraps, soiled paper and BPI-certified compostables; bulk items; scrap metal; electronics, including TVs up to 80 inches wide; mattresses and box springs; cooking grease; and small do-it-yourself construction loads. It is one of the three centers that take electronics, with East and Ezell Pike. It turns away asbestos, brick, concrete, dirt, rock, brush and leaves, fireworks, gas tanks, pallets and roofing shingles, and household hazardous waste other than cooking grease.
Before bringing a construction load
Nashville’s official pages give different size limits for small do-it-yourself construction loads at Omohundro. The Convenience Centers fee table lists $20 for a load of no more than 2 cubic yards; the Bulky Item Collection page says residents are limited to 1 cubic yard. Both identify Omohundro as the center for this material. Confirm the load size with Waste Services before transporting it; do not assume that the larger limit applies.
For tires or household hazardous waste other than cooking grease, use East Convenience Center or Ezell Pike Convenience Center. Nashville lists those two centers for tires and household hazardous waste; Omohundro is not on those lists.
About this site
The center sits at 1019 Omohundro Place, and Waste Services publishes no other entrance for it. The state permit for the site is CCC190000484. It is the least used of the four centers: the Davidson County Solid Waste Region Board’s report for 2024 counted 31,338 resident visits here, fewer than at any of the others. Unlike the recycling drop-offs, which stand open and unstaffed, this yard is staffed during its posted hours.
Rules at every Nashville convenience center
The four centers are for Davidson County residents who show a Tennessee driver’s license with a county address; you unload your own load, and commercial vehicles are turned away. The fees, the free daily allowances and the holiday closures that apply at all four are with the operator: Nashville Department of Waste Services.
