US trash pickup schedules and local waste rules

West Little River Trash and Recycling Center

A Miami-Dade drop-off on NW 79th Street that takes used electronics but is not listed for used motor oil or cardboard.

West Little River Trash and Recycling Center, at 1830 NW 79th Street, keeps hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The county lists it among the centers that take used electronics, and does not list it for used motor oil or cardboard. County records put it on county-owned land in unincorporated Miami-Dade, ZIP 33147, and the adopted FY 2025-26 budget carries a capital program for the site.

Serves: Miami-Dade County trash pickup and drop-off rules.

What this center takes and what it does not

It takes household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris a day and up to 3 cubic yards of fence, plus car tires (up to four), appliances, mattresses and electronics. Food and kitchen garbage are refused. On the county’s center list it is one of the sites named for used electronics; it is not named for used motor oil or cardboard, which the county lists at other centers. For the 2025-26 holiday season the county named it one of 11 centers taking clean, decoration-free natural Christmas trees, chipped into mulch offered to service-area customers in spring 2026.

Where to take used motor oil instead

The county’s current list names Golden Glades, North Dade and Sunset Kendall as centers that accept used motor oil. West Little River is not named for that service. Check the county’s list before making a trip specifically to dispose of oil.

About this site

County records place the center on county-owned land in unincorporated Miami-Dade at 1830 NW 79th Street, ZIP 33147, with a Miami mailing address. The adopted FY 2025-26 budget and capital plan carry program 2000001360 for the site, $1.868 million in all, for entrance signs, fencing, paving and striping of the parking lot and impact-resistant windows; the budget places the site in Commission District 2, as the county’s own map does. These are budgeted plans, not finished work. The department’s FY 2025-26 business plan schedules five electric-vehicle charging stations here, with West Perrine and Moody Drive. In November 2024 the department announced a plan to add used motor oil collection at the center, along with Eureka Drive and West Perrine; the service page still does not list the center for oil.

Rules at every county center

The centers are for DSWM waste fee customers, and the attendant scans a Florida driver’s license or ID against the address list before you unload. A customer may use any center in the network, not only the nearest one. The county-wide rules (who qualifies, the fees, the vehicle limits and the closures) are on Miami-Dade Solid Waste.
