The Benbrook trash rate drops to $16.60 a month on January 1, 2027, down from $17.60, when Best Trash North Texas, LLC takes over residential solid waste and recycling collection from Republic Services. Benbrook City Council awarded the contract at its October 1 meeting, the City of Benbrook said in an October 2 release (City of Benbrook).

The city calls the new rate a 5.7% decrease. Republic Services has collected in Benbrook since 1990, and its agreement ends December 31, 2026. The contract came out of a competitive solicitation, and the city says it weighed service level and cost to customers.
What stays and what changes
- Bags stay. Best Trash keeps weekly bag collection. Residents who prefer carts may buy a trash cart, a recycling cart or both, and the monthly rate stays $16.60 either way.
- Brush and bulk stay weekly. Up to four cubic yards a week are collected at no added charge.
- Collection days are redrawn. Routes will be divided by area, with trash and recycling on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday depending on location. Wednesday becomes citywide brush and bulk day.
- Saturday is for catch-up. Best Trash will collect six days a week, and Saturday runs handle missed collections and scheduled extra pickups.
Businesses and other non-residential customers should expect few changes; Best Trash will contact them before the switch about dumpster replacements and service levels.
What residents need to do now
Nothing yet. The city says no action is needed before the transition. Before January 1, the City and Best Trash will send the new residential collection days and routes, collection procedures and service guidelines, and optional cart purchase information. The notices come with residential utility bills and are posted on the city’s website and Facebook page.

What this is not
This is the City of Benbrook’s own contract and rate. Fort Worth, which borders Benbrook, sets its own garbage rates; see Fort Worth garbage rates and the Texas trash pickup hub.
