Bristol CT leaf collection 2026 is running from October 13 through December 4. The city’s Public Works Department says residents can put out full paper leaf bags during that window; crews do not collect them on a fixed weekday.

What Bristol residents need to do

Use brown recyclable paper leaf bags. Put the bags at the curb, not back on the property, as soon as they are full. The city says there is no maximum number of leaf bags per residence during the collection period.

Only leaves belong in the bags. Public Works says bags containing dirt, sand, rocks, sod or other material will be left behind. Crews will not pick up loose piles of leaves.

Because there is no assigned collection day, residents should not wait for their regular trash day or assume a missed-looking bag has been refused. Leave a compliant full bag at the curb within the October 13–December 4 window.

Why the bag rule matters

Paper leaf bags can move into the city’s yard-waste stream without a plastic wrapper. Dirt, rocks and sod add weight and can contaminate the collection process. Loose piles also cannot be handled as the announced bagged-leaf service.
