Nashville Department of Waste Services changed residential trash and recycling pickup days the week of February 2, 2026. That pattern is still the one Metro residents use.

Trash is weekly. Recycling is every other week on the same weekday as trash. Collection days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Monday is no longer a regular residential route day under this program.

The point of the change, as the department described it in January, was holiday weeks. Many Metro holidays fall on Monday. Under the new rule:

  • If the holiday is on Monday, collection days that week stay put.
  • If the holiday is Tuesday through Friday, only that day’s routes move to Monday of the same week. Other days do not slide.

That is the opposite of a city that delays every later route by one day. Look up the address before assuming a neighbor’s Monday makeup applies to you.

Service is for the Urban Services District and for single-family homes through four-plexes on Metro collection. Brush and leaf routes are a Nashville Department of Transportation program, not Waste Services. Missed recycling and other collection problems go through hubNashville.

Look up the current day and recycling week on Metro’s Collection Calendar and Waste Wizard. The February change notice remains on the new collection schedule page. Holiday-week wording is also on hubNashville.
