How to read a holiday week
Friday routes move to Saturday. New Year’s Day 2027 falls on a Friday, so in a one-day-slide city Monday to Thursday keep their days and Friday’s routes run Saturday, January 2. Phoenix, San Diego, Portland and Seattle all post it that way. Nashville moves Friday routes the other way, to Monday, December 28, 2026.
Garbage only, or one of two holidays. Hillsborough County skips garbage on New Year’s Day but still collects recycling and yard waste. San Francisco and Honolulu stop collection on New Year’s Day, one of only two holidays each observes.
No change. Jacksonville, Miami-Dade County, Knoxville and Falls Church collect as usual. Where a private hauler serves your street, as in Wichita or unincorporated King County, the hauler’s own notice is the rule.
